Guandu Nature Park - a popular bird-watching spot in northern Taiwan

Even though Taipei is a bustling city, it’s amazing how you can find a spot rich in ecological diversity like Guandu Nature Park in the suburbs. Located at the junction of Keelung and Danshui Rivers with the backdrop of the Datun Mountain, the Guandu Plain is fertile and rich in ecology. That’s why the nature spot has become the best resting place for many migratory birds, which attracts many bird-watchers!

Guandu Nature Park covers an area of ​​57 hectares of marsh wetland, which is divided into five areas: main area, core reserve area, outdoor observation area and sustainable management area, as well as the constructed wetland. For those of you who are into bird-watching, you can head over to the second floor of the Research and Visitor Service Center to use the high-powered telescope for a clearer view of the birds. At the bird-watching cabins nearby, you can also watch the footprints of migratory birds.

Even if you’re not a bird-watcher, this wonderful phenomenon is not to be missed. Guandu Nature Park can enjoy different kinds of birds all year round, from September to April each year you can enjoy winter birds, every year from May to August you can enjoy summer migratory birds and land birds, birds etc. are not seasonally distinguished. Out of 400 species of migratory birds in Taiwan, more than 200 species will flock to Guandu Nature Park, which makes it an amazing occurrence.
