While it's rare to encounter a halal restaurant in the Michelin Guide for most countries, did you know that the Michelin Guide Singapore 2019 has SEVEN halal eateries listed? ? It's a small number compared to the overall guide but definitely a promising sign that our local halal eateries are getting the recognition they deserve. Here are the 7 halal-certified and Muslim-owned Michelin-approved Singaporean eateries you should try out next!
Note: The eateries have received one of two ratings in the guide. 'Michelin Plate' awards eateries that serve quality food, whereas the 'Michelin Bib Gourmand' awards eateries that serve high-quality food at affordable prices (by local standards).
1. Allauddin's Briyani
Located in Little India's Tekka Market, Allauddin's Briyani is a hawker stall whose humble appearance belies its delicious dishes. Already locally famous as one of the top briyani spots in Singapore, the Michelin rating only confirms what we know - that its briyani is truly one of the best! ? Their briyani comes with a plate of fluffy yellow rice, served with a generous and tender chunk of mutton or chicken meat drenched in gravy. They also have a 2nd stall in Tekka Market selling Indian Muslim staples like mee goreng, prata, and murtabak.

Ask for biryani recommendations in Singapore and Bismillah Biryani is probably one of the names that'll pop up. ? They've actually been ranked Michelin Bib Gourmand since 2016! Their dry-style Chicken Dum Biryani, Lamb Shank Biryani, and Young Mutton Biryani are the must-try dishes. ? It's super easy to find a nasi padang stall in Singapore, but Hjh Maimunah's Jalan Pisang outlet is the only Michelin Bib Gourmand-awarded one! Serving up a huge variety of kampung-style traditional Malay and Indonesian cuisine, their signature dishes include Lemak siput sedut (sea snails), Tahu Telor, and Beef Rendang. ? Hawker centers are a treasure trove of hidden halal gems, and Pondok Makan Indonesia is one underrated secret waiting to be discovered. ? Located at Albert Center opposite Bugis MRT, it's gained a cult following for its fresh ingredients and dedication to homecooked dishes. You'll find simple fare like Lontong and Mee Rebus here - cooked to savoury perfection. ? Don't forget to order their Satay too - they've been making it for the last 40 years!

Springleaf Prata Place is a pretty popular prata chain but did you know they have a place in Singapore's Michelin guide? ? Here's where you can find your favourite Prata Kosong, Murtabak, and Thosai as well as unique dishes like Murtaburger and Plaster Blaster. The Murtaburger is a murtabak with a burger patty inside it for extra savoury goodness, and the Plaster Blaster is prata topped with eggs benedict, chicken ham, and hollandaise sauce for a fusion twist! ?

6. Tambuah Mas - Tanglin Road
If you're looking for something simple yet filling, Tambuah Mas has a menu full of home-style dishes from Padang, Sulawei, and Java. ? Their must-try dish is the Tahu Telor - it's made with a family recipe dating back generations! Don't forget irresistible dishes such as Sop Buntut, a spicy oxtail soup that is stewed slowly to perfection, and Ayam Goreng Istimewa with crispy fried chicken served slathered with a golden spice blend.

7. Traditional Haig Road Putu Piring
Haig Road Putu Piring is a household name when you're craving this sweet local snack, and it's been featured in both the Michelin guide and on Netflix's 'Street Food Asia'! ?Their recipe has been passed down through four generations, and they've perfected the process down to a T. Their putu piring is soft and fragrant, and the filling full of warm and sugary gula melaka. ? They have other flavours like durian, chocolate, and coconut too but nothing beats the original!
