I love horror movies and games. I grew up with a dad who's favourite pastime was watching Asian horror shows and a mom who always tormented me with ghostly whispers whenever she tucked me into bed. 👍🏼 So I think I grew up pretty seasoned to these kinds of themes, which was why when HHWT was invited to a media preview of Halloween Horror Nights 11 (HHN11) at Resorts World Sentosa, I couldn't say no! 😄 I even had other colleagues come with me to experience a snippet of the entire event. Here's how it went!

Picture this: a moonlit night on the picturesque island of Sentosa, Singapore, where my three (lesser than enthusiastic) colleagues and I embarked on a quest for the ultimate scare experience. I, being the self-proclaimed bravest and a lover of all things horror, was the designated guide for the night. Our short but impactful preview included a taste of two of the five haunted houses that await you at HHN11 (happening from 29 September 29 to 4 November 2023).
We were only allowed access into three rooms of each of the two house during this sneak peek, but those few rooms were enough to send shivers down our spines. And, of course, I couldn't wait to share my thoughts with you.
Costume Showcase

We got to see the details behind the themed haunted houses including this years' iconic characters:
- Yoon Gwi-nam (antagonist from All Of Us Are Dead on Netflix)
- Pied Piper
- The Matriach
- King Yama
Haunted House #1: Rebirth of the Matriarch

The first haunted house we explored was "Rebirth of the Matriarch." This chilling experience brings back the titular character from the very first edition of HHN. As we stepped into a seemingly ordinary family home, we were immediately immersed in a sinister atmosphere. Within its walls, a deadly ritual was being conducted to bring The Matriarch back to life.

I'm a fan of events with backstories and details so throughout this house, I kept feeling a shiver up my spine because I could almost picture the story in my head. Not to mention, the house had been turned into a Peranakan funeral home and if there's anything to be nervous about.. It's Asian ghosts. 😥
Haunted House #2: DIYU: Descent into Hell

Our second stop was the "DIYU: Descent into Hell" haunted house. This macabre journey plunged us into King Yama's judgment and punishment for earthly sins. The attention to detail was astonishing; we could practically smell the stench of decay and feel the icy cold winds brushing against our skin. 😓 Our senses were on high alert as we navigated this nightmarish realm, making us truly appreciate the artistry and craftsmanship that goes into creating such a bone-chilling experience!
Halal food available (HHN11 themed menu)
1. The Roasted Rabin Infected Leg (available at Goldilocks)

Sink your teeth into this delectable treat that perfectly captures the eerie essence at USS. The tender and flavourful roasted duck leg is a must-try, and it's sure to keep your energy up as you navigate the frightful attractions.
2. The Bloody Horror Burger (available at Mel's Drive In)

If you're in the mood for something more substantial, the Bloody Horror Burger is the way to go. Sink your teeth into this juicy burger with a side of crispy tater tots and feel the crunch of something more.. surprising in your meal (Spoiler: It's 'mealworms' made of wafer).
Now, as much as we enjoyed our sneak peek, HHN11 offers so much more to look forward to. In addition to the haunted houses, the event boasts three scare zones that will send shivers down your spine:
Scare Zones:

- Dead Man's Wharf: Prepare to come face-to-face with the real-life historical figure Madame Dragon, a Chinese pirate, and her motley crew. The atmosphere here is nothing short of terrifying, with a gripping tale of piracy and vengeance unfolding before your eyes.
- The Hacker: Step into a cyber-hellscape where a destructive AI being reigns supreme. In this tech-infested nightmare, you'll witness the consequences of humanity's desperate reliance on technology.
- The Cursed Kiramam: Journey to an Indian village cursed by the gods, where once-prosperous inhabitants now exist in a state of perpetual torment. The haunting imagery and eerie ambience make this zone an unforgettable experience.
With two live shows and a multi-sensory dining experience also on the menu, Halloween Horror Nights 11 promises a night of pure terror and excitement. So mark your calendars from September 29 to November 4, 2023!
