We Can Now Visit Japan Through Singapore’s First-Ever Virtual Japan Fair

We miss Japan so much don’t we? From the endless halal Japanese food articles, to even having a Japan-inspired itinerary in Singapore, it’s hard to forget that we still can’t go to the Land of the Sun. Well, here’s one more activity that we know will make you miss Japan a little less! Singapore is having the first-ever virtual fair, titled Japan Fair 2022, which will bring us Singaporeans an authentic Japan travel experience right to your doorstep. ??

Transport Yourself To Japan Virtually

From the 28th January to 13th March, you can explore a line-up of virtual tours which include local festivals, Japanese craft workshops and immersive live events from locations across Japan, including a snow town! This event is organised by Japan National Tourism Organization, sponsored by the Embassy of Japan in Singapore and is in partnership with various prefectural government agencies and travel partners.

There are four online venues for you to explore! In the Virtual Tour, let yourself be fully immersed in Japanese culture through virtual tours of popular attractions such as Ritsurin Garden in Kagawa Prefecture, known for its dry and sweet higashi candy and Shurijo Castle Park in Okinawa. ?

In the Omiyage Tour, discover more about Omiyage culture by using the Japan Souvenir Map and find out where you can get the authentic products in Singapore! An omiyage is a gift or souvenir you give to friends, coworkers, and family after returning home from a trip! Need a suggestion from us? Learn to live like a local in the Local Experience Tour. Explore the heart and soul of Japan's countryside through first-hand private activities including craft workshops and farm activities with some of these hosted by locals! Some activities you can expect include cherry blossom viewing (Hanami), sake-making, firefly-watching, cycling around remote hot springs, language courses and a unique local stay in Akita Prefecture. Akita is one of the six prefectures located in Tohoku, which is only a couple of hours away from Tokyo! It’s simply the perfect place for those who want to be one with nature, plus the added benefit of picturesque photo opportunities. ?

Transport yourself to Japan live with their three-day Live Event segment that will feature live broadcast streamings from various locations across Japan on JNTO Singapore Office’s official Facebook page. On the 13th, 19th and 26th February, the 10-programme line-up will showcase Akita, Nagano, Ehime, Kochi, Kanagawa, Mie, Aomori, Ishikawa, Miyagi and Okinawa prefectures!
