3. Meet the famous black-nose sheep in Zermatt

While in Zermatt in the summer, be sure to get up close and personal with the famous black-nose sheep from Valais. These fluffy fellas with their spiralled horns, black faces, and white woolly coats are a sight to behold.

From late June to mid-September, around 125 Wallis black nose sheep will be grazing on the Gornergrat. When you use the QR codes on the trail, you’ll find videos, facts and figures all about these typical, local sheep. Use the QR code to enable GPS localisation, where you can find the woolly sheep no matter where they are on the mountain.

#HHWTtip: The most flexible way to see them on the Gornergrat is to buy a return ticket from Zermatt to the Gornergrat. Leave the train and hike to the sheep. Afterwards, you can continue the trip by train.

4. Hiking and trail running around Schilthorn

The best thing about Switzerland? The outdoors, of course! Immerse yourself in nature by exploring the numerous hiking and running trails around Schilthorn. With captivating views of waterfalls, lakes, and mountains, coupled with fresh alpine air, these trails offer a rejuvenating experience.
