What is Michelin Bib Gourmand?

It might not be as popular as the Michelin Star, but the Michelin Bib Gourmand title is awarded to restaurants that are unique, simple yet recognizable, and satisfying at a reasonable price.

This year, the 2021 SG Michelin Bib Gourmand is back with 69 venues. The list is a mix of restaurants, street food, and hawker stalls. All of them are named as a place that offers high-quality menus with a good value of money, not more than SGD 45!

The good news is some of these award-winning eateries are halal!

There are two halal eateries in Singapore that made into the 2021 SG Michelin Gourmand Bib. If you are into great halal food with a reasonable price, this is what you are looking for!

The first halal eatery that is listed in this year's list is Bismillah Biryani. This is the 5th time Bismillah Biryani made it into the list. Previously, they won the SG Michelin Bib Gourmand Award from 2016 until 2019.

Bismilllah Biryani is highly recommended by the locals. Owned by a Muslim, this eatery opens daily from 8AM to 6PM. There are three outlets you can visit, whether for dine in, take away, or delivery.

The first one is at 50 Dunlop Street. You can also find them at Nexus @ One North 1 Fusionopolis Link and at 76 Shenton Way.

Of course, their Chicken Dum Biryani, Lamb Shank Biryani, and Young Mutton Biryani are the must-try dishes. Even better, they all come in sharing portions too.

The second halal eatery that is also included into this year's list is Hjh Maimunah in Jalan Pisang. This comfort food restaurant got everything you want for a satisfying feast!

Constantly buzzing with the lunch crowd, this restaurant is widely frequented for their kampung-styled traditional Malay and Indonesian cuisine - and yes, their nasi padang is a hit!

Established in 1992, Hjh Maimunah Restaurant was founded by Madam Mahiran Abdul Rahman who named the restaurant after her late mother. Currently, this third-generation restaurant has blossomed into a thriving restaurant that serves over 40 dishes daily.

When you come to Hjh Maimunah (or order for take away or delivery), all you need to do is order a portion of white rice, and color your plate with the dishes of your selection.

On a regular day, Hjh Maimunah opens from Monday to Saturday, from 7AM till 8PM.
