As Singaporeans navigate through our first week of the circuit breaker, it's no doubt been an adjustment, as kids transition to home-based learning and more of the working population starts working from home.

We might not be able to go out regularly now, but here's some good news to brighten your day: you can now get the quintessential Singapore sweet treat right at home. We're talking about ice cream sandwiches!

Uncle Lim (an ice-cream cart operator) has taken his business online - you can now order boxes of the ice cream and get it delivered to your house. At SGD8 per box, it comes in all your favourites flavours (including Red Bean, Durian, Raspberry Ripple, Yam and more). You can even buy the biscuits (SGD1 for 16 pieces) to make your own biscuit ice cream sandwiches! Do note that due to hygiene measures, the ice cream comes whole and you'll need to cut it up into slices yourself.

Uncle Lim is offering delivery to the following areas:

  • Hougang
  • Sengkang
  • Serangoon
  • Ponggol
  • Tampines
  • Pasir Ris
  • Bukit Batok
  • Bukit Panjang
  • Choa Chu Kang
  • Woodlands
  • Marsiling
  • Admiralty
  • Sembawang
  • Yishun

Deliveries will be between 2pm-10pm. Delivery costs SGD4, though if you buy more than 2 boxes, delivery is free of charge! Payment is via bank transfer or cash on delivery. To order you can follow his Facebook page for updates and request for orders based on delivery slots available for the day. Do note that as of the time of writing, delivery slots are full until Sunday, though more slots are expected to open for Monday!  Do be patient with Uncle Lim as he processes your orders :)

Orders are already pouring in, and it's heartening to see small vendors like Uncle Lim taking the initiative to help meet the needs of customers at home during this time. So if you're looking for a sweet treat in the coming weeks, try checking Uncle Lim out!
