Singapore Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) - Here Are 7 FAQs You Might Have

In the past week, we've seen the number of community COVID-19 cases in Singapore rise due to the KTV cluster and the Jurong Fishery Port cluster. As part of tightened measures, Singapore will go back to Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) from 22 July to 18 August 2021. Social gatherings are limited to groups of 2 and you can only have up to 2 unique visitors to your house a day. In case you are confused, here are some FAQs you might have regarding Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) in Singapore.

1. Can I still go out in Phase 2 (Heightened Alert)?

With the new restrictions, you're only allowed to be out in groups of 2. Occupancy limits for shopping malls will also be further reduced from 10 sq metres per person to 16 sq metres per person.

Cinemas will allow up to 100 people with pre-event testing (PET) and 50 people without PET, with safe distancing between groups of 2 people.

2. Can I go hiking in Phase 2 (Heightened Alert)?

3. Can I dine-in at eateries in Phase 2 (Heightened Alert)?

4. Can I still visit my friends' houses in Phase 2 (Heightened Alert)?

If you really need to go visiting, do note that households will not be allowed to receive more than two distinct visitors per day. 5. Can I still go to the mosque in Phase 2 (Heightened Alert)?

Yes, you may. However, do note that congregational and other worship services now have a cap of 50 people at any time (without PET) and up to 100 (with PET).

6. Can I still go on staycations in Phase 2 (Heightened Alert)?

Yes, you may. Only 2 guests are allowed per room, unless the individuals are all from the same household (ie. same address). There will also be no dine-in at F&B outlets in hotels; only takeaways and deliveries are allowed. 7. Can I still visit attractions in Phase 2 (Heightened Alert)?

Yes, you may. However, instead of the 50 per cent operating capacity, attractions will now have to reduce this to 25 per cent. This will also include museums. Tour groups will also be allowed to operate with a max capacity of 20 people split into groups of 2 (no intermingling).
