That was my first visit to Malaysia's well-known matcha specialty store, Niko Neko Matcha! It is really famous among the youths, so I decided to give it a try.

My friend told me that all the pastries/desserts might be gone by noon and only drinks are left. So if you wanna try out their desserts, make sure to be there early! My friend and I went there at around 11am (the time they open) on a Saturday and still need to wait for about 20 minutes.

Their choices of pastries/dessert vary everyday, it totally depends on what are available that day. But I believe that both of their best selling puffs and burnt cheesecakes are available everyday, just maybe different flavors.

We ordered a matcha drink and three desserts/pastries that day:

Ren Match Tea ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Since I am here to try out their matcha, I should just go for the best one. We purposely ordered the matcha tea with the highest price in the menu as we believe it will be the purest among all, just like what are described: Super High Umami savoriness, high creaminess and clean aftertaste. Well, I would say it is really good and super smooth! One thing is that I don't feel bitter at all! Suitable for those who don't like the bitterness of matcha.

Mini Genmaicha Burnt Cheesecake ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love this! Dense texture with heavy rich taste, I can totally feel the aroma of their genmaicha lingering in my mouth. The only fly in the ointment is that it’s too mini in size to fulfil my sweet tooth.

Houjicha Choux Au Craqulein ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I saw a lot of people recommended their puffs, so I think it’s a must to order one. There was only houjicha flavor that day. It turned out to be a little disappointed as it was not as delicious as I expected (maybe I have high expectation on the puffs after seeing all the reviews). The outer texture is normal and not so crunchy. As for the taste, personally think that it can be a little bit sweeter.

Gooey Matcha Oyaki ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is pretty good! Just like a bun with matcha custard filling, so balanced yet do not feel greasy at all. There is also a thin crunchy caramelized outer layer which is a bonus. Kudos!

Overall Niko Neko Matcha is worth the space in my tummy. I would love to visit again and try out their other pastries and desserts.

Here's my last tip for you (This is what I got): Make a review on Google, screenshot and show them on their Instagram, you might be able to enjoy a 50% discount on the next drink purchased from them!
