If you're a foodie and looking to try a new recipe, why not try making Mandi Rice or Nasi Mandi? A traditional dish from Yemen, it's a mix of meat and rice and is usually cooked in an underground pit. You might be able to find Nasi Mandi at some eateries in Singapore but nothing beats cooking it yourself. Our Tribes by HHWT member, Rita Razali tried making her own version of Mandi Rice and here's her recipe!
Mandi Rice Recipe (Nasi Mandi)
Mandi Rice has been getting so popular recently, so I thought, why don't I give it a try? How difficult can it be right? So, here it goes... Here's the recipe on how to prepare the masala. You can make more and keep the rest for next time (which I did).
This is the mandi spice after grinding: Here's the method to prepare the chicken (I tried both chicken and lamb shank using this recipe) And here's how you prepare the rice and bring everything together. This is just before I add the mandi masala. As I mentioned earlier, I tried using both chicken and lamb. This was before I was about to smoke the dish And finally, this is how I serve my Mandi Rice - with sauce and some salad ? Looking to try more recipes?
