There's just something about traditional Malay cuisine that's so comforting. The medley of steamed rice and scrumptious dishes makes it so hard to resist too ?

If you love traditional kampung cuisine, Hjh Maimunah will definitely be on your list of recommended Malay food stalls in Singapore. This well-loved eatery, specialising in kampung-styled traditional Malay and Indonesian cuisine, has even been awarded the prestigious Bib Gourmand rating in the Michelin Guide Singapore 2019!

The best part is, Hjh Maimunah has recently just opened their newest outlet at City Square Mall at Farrer Park. Called Hjh Maimunah Mini, you can find the stall at Food Republic located on the 4th floor of the mall. In case you're wondering where City Square is, it's actually about a 2-minute walk from the famous Mustafa Centre and the Little India district. Not to mention that it's connected to Farrer Park MRT station, which makes it really accessible!

Although the variety of dishes isn't as much as the ones at their Jln Pisang and Joo Chiat outlets, rest assured you'll still be able to enjoy their popular dishes like beef rendang, sambal goreng, tahu telor and lemak siput sedut. Just writing about this is enough to make our mouths water! However, if you're a fan of their sweet and savoury kuih, do note that there's only a limited selection of kuih available at the City Square outlet.

If you don't feel like having nasi campur (mixed rice), try their tantalising nasi lemak which is sold in the evenings (from 5PM onwards). Although we've savoured Hjh Maimunah's mouthwatering dishes countless times, what we're most excited about at their mini outlet is the fact they it's opened daily from 10AM to 10PM, as compared to their other branches. So even if you're having a late dinner and craving some good 'ol Malay cuisine, you won't be disappointed ?
Do note that the prices of dishes at Hjh Maimunah Mini are slightly higher than their other outlets but for the good location and delicious food, we think it's still pretty reasonable! According to Hjh Maimunah, if the current store at City Square does well, they plan to open more of such outlets across Singapore too. We're certainly hoping that their plan works out well ? But for now, we just can't wait to head down to Hjh Maimunah for our next traditional Malay food fix!
