Mas huni is a typical Maldivian breakfast, composed of tuna, onion, coconut and chilli.
This dish is usually eaten with freshly-baked roshi flatbread or any other type of bread actually! (I love them with wraps, crossaint and baguette!)
Ingredients:
- 1 can of canned tuna chunks in water
- 2 shallots
- 1 green chilli
- ½ cup of grated coconut
- ½ large lime (juice and zest)
- Salt (as needed)
- Grounded black pepper (as needed)
- Coriander (aromatic/garnish)
- 2-4 flatbread/bread of your choice
Steps:
- Drain the water from the canned tuna in a bowl and flake it gently with a fork.
- Chop shallots and green chili finely and add it into the bowl of tuna.
- Squeeze the juice of 1/2 a large lime and grate its zest as well.
- Add in the grated coconut and mix well.
- Season with salt and grounded black pepper.
- Garnish with coriander and serve with warm and toasted bread of your choice. *psst, I'm using a wholemeal wrap!
Serve with sweetened hot tea, juice and a tropical fruit platter for the ideal island breakfast feast!
