1. Kai Tod Decha
Kai Tod Decha is one of the most famous halal restaurants in Hat Yai - many of our readers even recommended it to us over Instagram! Their menu included classic Thai dishes such as tom yum soup, but they're most well-known for their delicious fried chicken! The restaurant is close to the Hat Yai airport, so it's a convenient stop for a delicious meal after you've arrived in the city.

Dimsum in Thailand? It may not seem like a classic Thai dish but Chabura's dimsums are famous in the city! The restaurant is a super popular breakfast spot, so try to go as early as possible to avoid any long queues. The dim sum is served in small metal dishes in steamers so you can try a variety of dishes in just one meal. If you're not full yet, you can order familiar dishes such as Roti Canai Daging to complete your meal.

Salma is another halal restaurant that's particularly popular amongst Malaysians. Here you'll find authentic Thai dishes such as papaya salad, seafood tom yum soup, egg omelette, and green curry! If you're travelling in a group it's worth it to stop by so you can try out their variety of dishes.
P.S. Their seating area isn't so big so we recommend visiting before or after peak timings for your best chance at getting a seat!

Right down the road from Salma is Hamid Restaurant - another Muslim-owned restaurant serving up Thai food, desserts, fusion dishes and more! The prices here are similar so you can have your pick between either eatery. Start your day with their American breakfast meals, or end it with delicious desserts!

5. ASEAN Night Bazaar
The halal food scene in Hat Yai isn't just restaurants - there are night markets and bazaar-style places to grab a quick bite too! If you're visiting the ASEAN Night Bazaar, head up to the food court on the 2nd floor for halal goods galore. Look out for Muslim-owned stalls that serve pan-fried crispy mussels with bean sprouts, shrimp fried rice, roasted chicken with rice and more.

No visit to Hat Yai would be complete without a trip to the floating market! It's both a cultural icon of the city as well as a haven for halal food! There are many Muslim vendors at the market, so finding Muslim-friendly options isn't so difficult. Look out for fried quail eggs, som tam noodles, seafood tom yam, takoyaki, coconut juice and more.
