If you're looking for the perfect place that has a cool, calming ambience overlooking a beautiful view, this might just be the perfect place for you. Although not entirely new, it's still got delicious Western, Asian and Mediterranean food for everyone. Our Tribes member, Farhana Ayu, visits this quaint river-side restaurant and shares her experience! Clueless as to where to dine at for your next makan session. Well look no further, cause I've got the perfect place for you! It has the most relaxing ambience, delicious food and a view of the Singapore River.

If you have not heard of 1819, then let me fill you in with the details! This restaurant will tick all your boxes. It has a spectacular river view, an eclectic menu serving up a good mix of Western, Mediterranean, Asian food (they even have kids meals!) and is even accessible via nearby MRT stations! Since I was having a staycation at Heritage Collection Boat Quay, it was incredibly convenient to have 1819 right below me. A convenient luxury!

P.S. Interested in staying in a shophouse? Read more about Heritage Collection here!

I found some of their menu items to be interestingly different from the usual, predictable menu that I would often find at other Restaurants. So I took the chance to try out their incredibly unique and interesting food by having both my lunch & dinner meals there. If you're planning on eating here, I would advise you make advance reservations, though! Especially during the evenings of Friday and weekends. It gets pretty packed. But once you're in, you can choose to seat by the Quayside, Al fresco or Indoors. There's no need to mention of course, that quayside would provide you with a perfect view of the Singapore River.

The first time we tried 1819 was for dinner. We had their Mixed Grilled Platter for 2. What I liked about this platter was that the skewered meat was more of the chunky cube type, rather than minced. Plus, the meat was aromatic and tender. P.S. Here's a top! The lambchop goes best with some sauce. We requested some and it was absolutely delicious! Overall, the portion was good enough for 2 pax to share. Unless of course, you're more of a big eater.

The following day, we had lunch and it was spectacular. This time, we chose to sit Quayside and watch the boats cruise by. And when the food arrives, ooh how it made the experience so much better! Personally, I prefer dining during the day as it's less crowded and you can slowly take in the beautiful view with the river breeze. If you are into BBQ Sticky Lamb Ribs, 1819's Lamb Ribs will not disappoint you. The thick and juicy ribs were well marinated and so fragrant that you will enjoy every bite of it. It'll leave you wanting more!

Their Shakshuka was full of so full of flavourful, savoury meat that is not too spicy or sour. They went perfectly with the runny eggs & toasted Pita bread served. It is definitely a dish I will want to order again. Some of the popular items which I saw many other patrons order were the Lobster Marinara and Oxtail Lemak Chilli Padi with Bread. I was salivating! Every forkful was filled with a whole load of Oreo crunchiness. Who wouldn't be able to resist? So now you know more about 1819! Time to make plans, gather your group and make those reservations! I just made mine!
