If you've ever been to or made plans to visit Bangkok before, you might have heard of the famous Go-Ang Pratunam Chicken Rice. Not only has it been featured in Bangkok's Michelin Bib Gourmand guide, this Thai take on Hainanese Chicken Rice first opened its doors in Singapore in 2018. Well, guess what, as of July 2020 - Go-Ang Pratunam Chicken Rice has been halal-certified in Singapore! ? Now you can finally try this award-winning chicken rice for yourself!

The original Go-Ang was started in the 1960s and is today one of the most popular eateries in Bangkok's Pratunam shopping district. Singaporeans can definitely appreciate stopping for a good meal in the middle of a shopping spree, which is great news as Go-Ang's 4 outlets in Singapore are all located in prime malls: JEM, Plaza Singapura, VivoCity, and NEX. ? With a mix of heartland and 'central' outlets, you won't have to travel far to get your hands on their signature chicken rice.

P.S. Missing shopping in Bangkok? Here are 23 halal eateries in Bangkok's popular shopping areas you can drool over while you plan for your future trip to this shopping capital. ?

Now let's talk about the chicken rice itself. ? The poached chicken (Half chicken $17, whole chicken $33) is chewy and tender, with a moist texture and of course the fragrant aroma of the broth it was cooked in. While you might prefer local Singapore-style Hainanese chicken rice, Go-Ang's version is definitely worth a try! It's the only halal-certified Michelin-approved Hainanese chicken rice in Singapore after all. ?

So what sets Go-Ang's Thai-style chicken rice apart? It's definitely their homemade chilli sauce! Made with the founder's secret recipe, the sauce uses ginger, garlic, and chopped red chillis to create a burst of tongue-tingling flavour that pairs perfectly with the tender meat and fragrant rice. ?

They also have roasted chicken, as well as chicken gizzard ($3.50) and chicken liver ($3.50) which you can add on for a small fee. ?

Add on yummy Thai dishes to your meal for a perfect spread. Go-Ang's menu includes classics like Stir-Fried Basil Chicken with Kai Lan ($9), Thai-style Basil Chicken Mid-Joint Wings ($9), and Fried Tofu Cubes with Thai Sweet Chilli Sauce ($9). They also added some new dishes in late 2019 - like this spicy Thai seafood soup complete with prawns, fish, and squid! ?

Best of all, Go-Ang offers delivery via GrabFood, foodpanda, and Deliveroo or you can pre-order your meal and swing by one of their outlets to pick it up. ? Whether you're a die-hard fan of Hainanese chicken rice or just missing your shopping trips to Bangkok, you've definitely got to try out Go-Ang's version and see how it measures up!
