There's nothing like yummy Western food for a comforting meal. Steaks, pasta and chicken chop... we love them all! If you're looking for a place serving affordable halal Western food, head over to El Carbon Grill House, a coffeeshop stall located at Ang Mo Kio and Yishun. El Carbon is different from other coffeeshop Western stalls as it has an authentic charcoal grill concept.

Even though El Carbon is a coffeeshop stall, the storefront looks as if it's a restaurant, with stunning blue tiles and a unique aesthetic. As El Carbon is under the COLLIN's Group, its head Chef also used to work at Elfuego by COLLIN's as a demi-Chef. What sets them apart is that they use a Mibrasa charcoal oven to grill their meats. The oven uses a closed barbecue grill concept which ensures that the charcoal flavour is infused in the meats.

El Carbon's signature Charbroiled Chicken Chop ($7.50) is a must-try. You'll get to savour a nice smokiness with the charred exterior while the inside of the chicken is juicy. It's served with spaghetti aglio olio, mesclun salad, corn on a cob and black pepper sauce.

Perhaps what surprises us the most is that the steaks at El Carbon are super affordably priced as well. The Angus Ribeye is $13 while the Angus Sirloin is $12. But what you get with the price is quality, well-marbled Black Angus beef. It's tender, flavourful and will leave you feeling satisfied. You'll also get their classic mashed potato, salad and black pepper sauce.

If you're a fan of meat, we hear their Lamb Chops ($12) and Signature Roasted Half Chicken ($9.50) are hot favourites too, so be sure to give those a try!

If fish and chips are a must-have for you at Western food stalls, El Carbon's version is its Haddock Fish 'N' Chips ($9.50). While most coffeeshop Western stalls might use cod or dory, haddock is known to have more flavour and a slight sweetness to it that goes well with the batter. For other seafood options, check out their Grilled Norwegian Salmon ($11) or the Charbroiled Grilled Chicken with Grilled Prawns ($9.50)!

Other than the delectable mains, don't miss out on starters like the Grilled Japanese Squid with "Kicap Manis" ($9.50), the Forest Mushroom Soup ($3) as well as the Mixed Combo Platter ($19.80) and Signature Roasted Whole Chicken ($18) for sharing.

So, head on down to El Carbon for your halal Western food fix and SHARE this article with your loved ones!
