The best part about being a foodie in KL is that the city has plenty to offer. From local favourites to Western cuisines and everything in between, there's a wealth of flavours to explore! This time around, we'll be shining the spotlight on a vintage-themed halal cafe that serves up nostalgia in the form of homemade Pahang comfort food and that place is Chi Fan.

Located in Taman Melawati, the name of the cafe means 'eat' in Chinese which is nothing short of befitting. Owned by former lawyer now turned chef, Shurqi, you'll get to cosy up in a space that feels more like a home than a restaurant. And with dishes that have been adapted from her family recipes, all passed down through generations, it truly seals the deal of a unique and warm dining experience ?

Kick off your meal with any one of the cafe's classic favourites like nasi goreng kerabu, bubur lambuk and nasi kenduri set. While some items may not currently be on the menu, it's possible that they're making a comeback - so make sure to keep an eye out on their social media pages for the latest updates! Even if you've got hankering for Western flavours, the cafe's got you covered with Hainanese chicken chop, soft shell crab salted egg spaghetti, mat salleh beef stew and more. With so much to offer, you'll definitely have to make multiple visits to try them all out ?

Of course, there's no forgetting the sweet treats! A whole variety of delightful desserts await you, from pulut kapit and sago gula melaka to sticky dates toffee pudding and Victoria sandwich cake. Want something a little more special? Then the pandan lempeng awan (souffle pancakes) should be right up your alley! Perfectly fluffy and sweet, one bite is all it takes to fall in love ?

Whether you're feeling a little adventurous or craving for a taste of home cooked food while you're out and about exploring the city, Chi Fan should be your go-to spot for all of that and more.
