What is the COVID-19 situation like in the Maldives now?

As of July 2021, the Maldives has relaxed several domestic COVID-19 related restrictions following a decrease in cases in Greater Male. Non-essential businesses are allowed to reopen and restaurants have resumed serving dine-in customers. Also, legal permits to exit home during non-curfew hours are not required anymore.

Can I travel to the Maldives now?

If you have proof of a negative COVID test that's been carried out within the 96 hours prior to departure, you are allowed to enter the Maldives.

Which countries are allowed to travel to the Maldives?

Apart from the capital city of Malé, the Maldives is open to visitors from all countries except India whose visa will restart from July 15, 2021. What are the travel and quarantine requirements in Maldives?

According to the Maldives' official tourism website, there is no mandatory quarantine on arrival to the Maldives - you simply need proof of a negative COVID test (taken not more than 96 hours prior to the scheduled time of departure from the first port of embarkation en route to the Maldives.). However, for non-tourist visitors travelling to an inhabited island, you are required to undergo self-quarantine of 14 days upon arrival at the island.

Note: Infants aged less than one-year-old are exempted from the aforementioned testing requirement.

What is the latest update on COVID-19 vaccination in Maldives?

As of July 2, over 190,000 people in the Maldives have been administered with two doses of a COVID-19 vaccination. Once the number hits just under 550,000, the Maldives' "Visit, Vaccinate and Vacation" scheme named "3V" will be set to launch - a program which allows visitors to receive a COVID-19 vaccine upon arrival.
