It’s safe to say that I am a breakfast fanatic (I could honestly live on tea, pancakes, and yogurt parfaits.)
While in London I made it my mission to find the best places that serve muslim-friendly breakfast foods and afternoon tea. I had the most memorable meals at two wonderful cafes that you simply have to visit if you find yourself in beautiful London town.
Breakfast at Honey & Co.
I will keep dreaming about the breakfast that I had at Honey & Co. for years and years to come. The café itself was really tiny which instantly gave off a cozy, homey vibe. The food displays were lovely and so aesthetically pleasing, and the service was fantastic (our waitress was very welcoming and extremely helpful.) For the savoury options we tried the shakshouka (a traditional Middle Eastern egg dish), which was nice but a bit heavily spiced. The sabich (eggplant, tahini, and egg dish) however was out of this world.
If you have a sweet tooth you will love indulging in the wonderful options at Honey & Co. especially the milk buns with homemade jam and butter. The ashura cereal served with fresh fruit and jam was refreshing and delectable, but the financiers steal the show. They are freshly made with burnt butter and almonds, and then filled with strawberry rose petal jam (sticky, sweet and sinfully decadent)!
*Do note that Honey and Co. does not serve halal meat but they have a wide selection of vegetarian and fish dishes. Do visit at your own discretion.

Afternoon Tea at BB Bakery
A stone’s throw away from the hustle and bustle of Covent Garden Market you will find BB Bakery, an incredibly cute teashop tucked away on a little corner on Chandos Place. Stepping into this bakery is like stepping into a little girl’s ultimate tea party. The décor is charming, playful, and whimsical, with quirky feminine touches; the large windows make it a perfect spot for having a cuppa whilst reading a lengthy book.
At BB Bakery you can choose your afternoon tea from a variety of different menus ranging from traditional, halal, gluten free, or vegetarian (which you can ask for upon reservation). For tea we went for Earl Grey with a splash of milk. The quality of the tea was beautiful, and the balance of citrus and bergamot complimented the food perfectly.
The flavors of the savory selection were fresh and bright, the smoked salmon blini and mushroom quiche in particular were really enjoyable. The sweet options did not disappoint, especially the moist choux pastry filled with luscious crème patisserie, and the perfect little chocolate macarons (Vive la France!)
And of course who could forget the quintessentially British scones? They were served warm and crumbly, with rich clotted cream and sweet strawberry jam on the side.
