Aliwal Urban Art Festival 2023 is back for its 7th instalment with a graffiti-themed festival. The iconic Aliwal Art Centre will be transformed into a thriving arts scene - the perfect opportunity to gather and appreciate art with your friends! ? Look forward to an array of activities that will be offered at the one-day festival happening on 14 January 2023. If you've ever considered learning a new craft or skill this year, the Black Market (from 12-8PM) at the Aliwal Urban Art Festival is a great place to start! ? Join an art tour of Kampong Glam, watch a live graffiti painting session (you can even try it out yourself!) and fix a bike, among many other fun activities. Simply sign up on the festival website and you’re good to go.

Another event you can look forward to is FLIPSIDE happening from 12 to 15 January 223 which challenges 12 artists to fit two paintings onto a single canvas. This experience encourages you to move around the space to see the complete pieces through different perspectives. ? If you’re a fan of music, you won’t want to miss Urban Sounds where you can listen to fresh tunes and fun riffs with this year’s line-up of independent artists and bands from various genres.
Not to mention, the closing ceremony is totally worth staying for! Take a trip through the history of music and dance with a Block Party (that everyone’s invited to!)! Take in the energy and lively ambience of the streets with performances and dance battles. ?? Enjoy a vibrant street festival with dance battles, adrenaline-pumping performances, and sick beats at RE:union Party as a way to end the night!

Urban Immersion
As its name suggests, Urban Immersion allows you to immerse yourself in the urban art of dance and theatre. ? It gives you a behind-the-scenes look at performances to help you get a better idea of how it works. Additionally, there are improv taster sessions ($20) where you can try your hand at improv and comedy, so let your inner performer shine through!
