Situated in the heart of the city and a few blocks away from one of the key shopping spots, one would expect the setting to be monotonous and typical of a restaurant in the city. But not here! You don't have to travel far for finger-licking good fried chicken in Bandung. Ayam Goreng Suharti stacks up among the Western fast food chains that are widely available around Bandung and is ranked as one of Indonesia’s very own fast food restaurants. The chicken is nice and crunchy on the outside, but served hot and warm - keeping the flesh inside soft and tender?

Grilled meat lovers rejoice! Strategically located along Jalan Cihampelas, Kampung Bakar Cairo is every carnivore’s dream. The place serves mouth-watering grilled lamb which are freshly prepared. The serving comes in weighted portions; making it easy for crowds of different sizes (or appetites) to order accordingly.

There are a few other Kambing Bakar Cairo branches across Indonesia – but the one in Bandung serves sate kambing (lamb satay) to complete its mutton-y affair. And for the non-lamb eaters, worry not! This place also serves up a few other dishes such as soto Mesir (Egyptian soup), roti canai India (Indian flat bread) and sate ayam (chicken satay)☺️

6. Iga Bakar Si Jangkung

Another spot to try out for more lamb-based dishes in Bandung is Iga Bakar Si Jangkung. The place is located slightly north-west of Jalan Cihampelas, which makes it really convenient for those who are shopping there! Their signature grilled lamb here is diced, cooked in a slightly sweet soy sauce with a hint of spice before finally being paired together with a plate of white rice.

Apart from their signature dish, the sop kambing (lamb soup), nasi goreng kambing (fried rice with lamb) and sop bakar are a few other mention-worthy dishes to try out! Sop bakar translated literally means “burnt soup” but what makes the name unique is in the way the dish is prepared. A bowl filled with all the goodness that is going be served is heated up over a flame until the contents are hot and is then served immediately to you?

Bandung is the home for Sundanese food so don't be surprised to see many restaurants serving such food. Located directly in front of Click Square Mall, head over to Batagor Kingsley for a quick bite! Batagor is the abbreviation of bakso tauhu goreng (literally translated into fried meatballs). It is mainly made up of fish instead of meat - more closely resembling a fried fish dumpling.

The snack is the ultimate texture overload for your taste buds! The batagor here is wrapped with tofu and served under a serving of sweet and spicy peanut sauce. The warm, soft texture of the fish complements nicely with the crunchy peanut sauce that comes together with every bite?

12. Sajian Sunda Sambara

Sajian offers a wide spread of Sudanese affair and three different choice of rice to choose from – nasi putih (white rice), nasi merah (brown rice) and the uniquely prepared nasi timbel – where hot steaming rice is served wrapped inside a banana leaf. The heat from the rice reacts with the banana leaf and produces a unique and appetite-inducting aroma. Don’t forget their multitude of sambals to choose from too!
